Current Unit: Regularities and Relationships (Multiplication and Division)
Students are:
*Making sense of multiplication and division in a variety of contexts (picture problems, games, data, and stories).
Big Ideas in the Unit:
*We can use the properties of operations and the relationship between multiplication and division to solve multiplication problems
*Multiplication can be represented as equal sets, arrays, jumps on a number line, repeated addition, or counting by multiples
*Division means finding the number of objects in a group when a total is divided into a number of equal groups
*Division means finding the number of groups when a total is divided into equal sized shares (or equal groups)
By the end of the unit, students should be able to independently:
*Represent and solve multiplication and division problems within 100 (including using and understanding the array model)
*Use mental math strategies to multiply and divide within 100
*Use properties of operations to solve multiplication and division problems

Good Mathematicians...
*Make Sense of mathematics
*Keep Trying even when problems are challenging
*Remember that it's OK To Make Mistakes and revise our thinking
*Share our mathematical ideas with our classmates
*Listen to understand someone else's idea; give each other time to think
*Ask Questions that help us better understand the mathematics
*Agree and Disagree with mathematical ideas, not with each other
*Remember that EVERYONE has Good Mathematical Ideas
